Our Belief

We believe that everyone is unique and that there is not a one ‘one size fits all’ approach or model. We are passionate about working with and helping others with depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief and loss, codependency and trauma-informed to name a few.

We don’t just work with you on mental wellness, but your emotional, physical, and spiritual state of being. You ARE a whole person. We believe that individuals have the tools and capacity to heal, grow and change.

We use an eclectic and holistic approach in helping our clients and some modalities used are solution-focused, person-centered, dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), somatic, narrative therapy, mindfulness practices, and trauma-informed practice, which acknowledges the need to see beyond an individual’s presenting behaviours and to ask “what does this person need?” rather than “what is wrong with this person?”

Who We Are

Tanya Ovelson

Registered Therapeutic Counsellor

Tanya is an RTC (Registered Therapeutic Counsellor) through ACCT (Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada). She received her diploma in Professional Counselling at Rhodes Wellness College with additional certifications in Wellness Counselling and Life Skills Coaching. She has experiential learning and, combined with life experiences, she understands the challenges that life can throw. She strives to bring that understanding to the counselling setting.

Tanya practices a person-centered approach to counselling, rooted in empathy and non-judgment. She takes a holistic approach that considers the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of her clients’ lives. Tanya recognizes that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution and tailors her approach to each individual. She utilizes a variety of modalities in her counselling, including Person-Centered, CBT, DBT, Narrative, and Mindfulness practices.

She was a certified nail technician for over 10 years and has worked in the service industry since she was 15. She found that going through a pandemic and listening to her clients’ struggles, knowing that there was a pandemic in mental health as well, she felt compelled in her heart to act on something bigger than herself, knowing that what people need most right now is connection.

Tanya was born and raised in Kelowna, BC, where she is a mother, wife, daughter, and sister. She grew up loving to sing, dance, and perform, and as she got older decided to take up jazz, tap, and Latin dance, where she also competed. She has also worked as a background performer on many movie sets. Tanya has also volunteered singing on worship teams for churches and used to volunteer for the Okanagan Sun junior football team’s cheerleading squad as a cheerleader and coach. She also has a love for travel and has experienced different countries and cultures, which has brought her so much joy, and continues her love of music by singing in a local band.

Sheri Schupsky

Registered Therapeutic Counsellor

Sheri is an RTC (Registered Therapeutic Counsellor) through the ACCT (Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada). She previously worked in healthcare for over 20 years. She has her EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) certification and has always been passionate about helping others. She holds two extra certifications in Wellness Counselling and Life Coaching. As well, she is on her second level of training at the Gottman Institute for couples therapy.

Sheri uses a person-centered, non-judgmental, empathetic, and holistic approach in her counselling. Sheri wants to focus on helping others overcome the current challenges life can present. The anxiety that comes into our lives when we feel stuck at times could use some professional guidance. Sheri has a calm presence, one who can walk with you through life’s challenges and empower you to live a stronger, more free life. The modalities will vary, and some are DBT, CBT, somatic and trauma-informed practices.

Sheri is the mother of two adult children and in her spare time, she enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with loved ones. She loves to travel and enjoys anything outdoors.
